Trippy Goat Distillery, located in the heart of Maryland’s agricultural district, is a 325-acre working farm and distillery.

The Distillery is the creation of my older son Dr. Marc Potash. Marc is a technology expert who has developed a number of very successful businesses. He grew up hearing the stories of his Grand Father Joe, aka Joe Botched (Boxer), Old Joe (Bootlegger) and his Great Grand Father Benjamin the Moonshiner. My younger son Matt owns a construction company so the two of them set about building a state-of-the-art farm distillery in the heart of Maryland.

Trippy Goat Distillery is currently producing Trippy Goat Vodka. This is a 7 times distilled and charcoal filtered vodka that is out selling the competition throughout Maryland.

The distillery is aging barrels of bourbon and whiskey and has a lab set up for crafting what will be the finest aged and mellow whiskey available.

Trippy Goat has a column still being custom designed and built. Once operational the Old Joe Bourbon and Bealsville Rye will be grain to glass.  Additionally planned is a large outdoor entertainment venue with concert stage, tasting rooms and gift shop.

OLD GUARD

  • Product #9610

The Old Guard opens with a deep amber-copper color— the kind that tells you the barrel did its job. The nose is warm, rich, and complex: vanilla, caramel, honey, and dried fruit, nothing sharp, nothing forced.

On the palate, it drinks smoother than expected — mature and intentional. Oak, caramel, and toffee give way to subtle layers of spice: cinnamon, clove, a whisper of pepper, a note of apple and dried fruit. The complexity reveals itself slowly, the way real craftsmanship always does.

The finish is long, clean, and warm — a velvety, lingering close that leaves you reaching for one more sip. Which, as one reviewer put it, he gladly helped himself to.

Serve it neat. This bourbon doesn't need ice to smooth it or mixers to improve it. Pour it clean and let the craft do what it was designed to do.
